경찰청장, 시ㆍ도경찰청장 또는 경찰서장과 시ㆍ도지사, 시장ㆍ군수ㆍ구청장 또는 읍장ㆍ면장ㆍ동장은 지역사회의 범죄예방 등에 현저한 공로가 있는 자율방범대원과 자율방범대를 선정하여 포상할 수 있다.
