Act on the Establishment and Operation of the Media and Communications Commission, Article 5 (Appointment, etc.)

① 위원장 및 위원은 방송 및 정보통신 분야의 전문성을 고려하여 다음 각 호의 어느 하나에 해당하는 사람 중에서 대통령이 임명 또는 위촉한다. 이 경우 위원장은 국회의 인사청문을 거쳐야 한다.

1. 방송학ㆍ언론학ㆍ전자공학ㆍ통신공학ㆍ법률학ㆍ경제학ㆍ경영학ㆍ행정학, 그 밖에 방송ㆍ언론 및 정보통신 관련 분야를 전공한 사람으로서 대학이나 공인된 연구기관에서 부교수 이상의 직에 있거나 있었던 사람 또는 이에 상당하는 직에 15년 이상 있거나 있었던 사람

5. 제1호, 제3호, 제4호 및 공무원 경력 등을 합산하여 15년 이상이 되는 사람

② 위원 7명 중 위원장을 포함한 2명은 대통령이 지명하고 5명은 국회의 추천을 받아 제1항에 따라 임명 또는 위촉한다. 이 경우 국회는 위원을 추천할 때 대통령이 소속되거나 소속되었던 정당의 교섭단체가 상임위원 1명을 포함한 2명을 추천하고 그 외 교섭단체가 상임위원 1명을 포함한 3명을 추천한다.
