해상교통안전법 제98조(음향신호설비)

① 길이 12미터 이상의 선박은 기적 1개를, 길이 20미터 이상의 선박은 기적 1개 및 호종(號鐘) 1개를 갖추어 두어야 하며, 길이 100미터 이상의 선박은 이에 덧붙여 호종과 혼동되지 아니하는 음조와 소리를 가진 징을 갖추어 두어야 한다. 다만, 호종과 징은 각각 그것과 음색이 같고 이 법에서 규정한 신호를 수동으로 행할 수 있는 다른 설비로 대체할 수 있다.

② 길이 12미터 미만의 선박은 제1항에 따른 음향신호설비를 갖추어 두지 아니하여도 된다. 다만, 이들을 갖추어 두지 아니하는 경우에는 유효한 음향신호를 낼 수 있는 다른 기구를 갖추어 두어야 한다.

③ 선박이 갖추어 두어야 할 기적ㆍ호종 및 징의 기술적 기준과 기적의 위치 등에 관하여는 해양수산부장관이 정하여 고시한다.
