자연유산의 보존 및 활용에 관한 법률 제32조(천연기념물인 동물의 치료 등)

① 천연기념물인 동물이 조난을 당하거나 질병에 걸린 경우 구조를 위한 운반, 약물 투여, 수술, 사육 및 야생 적응훈련 등(이하 "치료"라 한다)은 시ㆍ도지사가 지정하는 천연기념물 동물치료소에서 할 수 있다.

② 천연기념물 동물치료소의 운영자는 천연기념물인 동물의 조난 또는 질병 등으로 인하여 긴급한 보호 또는 치료가 필요한 경우에는 먼저 치료한 후 지체 없이 그 결과를 국가유산청장, 시ㆍ도지사 및 시장ㆍ군수ㆍ구청장에게 보고하여야 한다. <개정 2024.2.13>

③ 국가나 지방자치단체는 천연기념물인 동물을 치료한 동물치료소에 예산의 범위에서 치료에 드는 경비를 지급할 수 있다. 이 경우 해당 경비의 지급에 관한 업무를 문화체육관광부령으로 정하는 천연기념물의 치료ㆍ보호 관련 단체에 위탁할 수 있다.

④ 제3항에 따른 천연기념물인 동물의 치료 경비 지급에 관한 절차와 위탁 등에 필요한 사항은 문화체육관광부령으로 정한다.
