산림기본법 제12조의2(실태조사 및 통계 작성ㆍ관리 등)

① 산림청장은 산림기본계획을 효율적으로 수립ㆍ시행하고 임업의 진흥에 활용하도록 하기 위하여 산림 및 임업의 현황에 대한 실태조사(이하 "실태조사"라 한다)를 하고, 산림 및 임업에 관한 통계(이하 "통계"라 한다)를 작성ㆍ관리하여야 한다. 이 경우 통계의 작성 및 관리에 관하여 이 법에서 정한 것을 제외하고는 「통계법」을 준용한다.

② 산림청장은 실태조사 및 통계 작성을 위하여 필요하면 관계 중앙행정기관의 장, 지방자치단체의 장, 「공공기관의 운영에 관한 법률」 제4조에 따른 공공기관의 장, 관련 기업ㆍ단체에 자료의 제공을 요청할 수 있다. 이 경우 자료 제공을 요청받은 관계 중앙행정기관의 장 등은 특별한 사유가 없으면 자료를 제공하여야 한다.

③ 산림청장은 실태조사의 결과 및 통계를 전산화하여 산림데이터베이스를 구축ㆍ유지 및 관리하여야 한다.

④ 제1항에 따른 실태조사 및 통계 작성의 내용ㆍ방법이나 제3항에 따른 산림데이터베이스의 구축 등에 필요한 사항은 대통령령으로 정한다.
