백두대간 보호에 관한 법률 제6조(백두대간보호지역의 지정)

① 기후에너지환경부장관은 산림청장과 협의하여 백두대간보호지역(이하 "보호지역"이라 한다)의 지정에 관한 원칙과 기준을 정한다. 다만, 사회적ㆍ경제적ㆍ지역적 여건의 변화로 원칙과 기준의 변경이 불가피하다고 인정하는 경우에는 산림청장과 협의하여 변경할 수 있다. <개정 2025.10.1>

② 산림청장은 백두대간 중 생태계, 자연경관 또는 산림 등에 대하여 특별한 보호가 필요하다고 인정하는 지역을 제1항 본문에 따른 원칙과 기준에 따라 기후에너지환경부장관과 협의하여 보호지역으로 지정할 수 있다. 이 경우 보호지역은 다음 각 호와 같다. <개정 2025.10.1>

③ 보호지역의 지정 절차에 관하여는 제4조제3항ㆍ제5항 및 제6항을 준용하되, 필요한 경우 해당 지역주민의 의견을 들을 수 있다.

④ 산림청장은 제2항에 따라 보호지역을 지정하였을 때에는 대통령령으로 정하는 바에 따라 관보에 고시하고 관계 중앙행정기관의 장과 도지사에게 통보하여야 한다.

⑤ 관계 도지사 또는 시장ㆍ군수는 보호지역의 지정과 관련되는 서류를 일반인이 열람할 수 있게 하여야 한다.
