외무공무원법 제5조(외무공무원의 임무)
외무공무원은 대외적으로 국가의 이익을 보호ㆍ신장하고, 외국과의 우호ㆍ경제ㆍ문화 관계를 증진하며, 재외국민을 보호ㆍ육성하는 것을 그 임무로 한다.
